Happy Fall

I love the Fall in Chicago, the changing colors are everywhere, the weather is brisk but not unbearable, and it's just a nice change to see it all! For Halloween I went on a tour of the Graceland Cemetery, the tour was with the Chicago History Museum, and the reason I wanted to go on it is in the book, The Devil in the White City, about Chicago's World's Fair in 1893, many of the people in the book are buried in the cemetery. It was an overcast, drizzly day when it started, and by the end was pouring. I had brought my Harley rain jacket - and an umbrella, but the girl from the Museum didn't have an umbrella, so I gave her mine to use since I had the jacket. Well - the jacket did a great job, but I was still soaking from the water run off by the end. All in all it was a very interesting way to spend Halloween :)

Here are some fall pictures:

Graceland Cemetery:

These piles of leaves just beg someone to run through them!

This was the site of John Root, one of the main people involved in the World Fair, he passed away at the beginning of planning, if he had lived the fair would have been much more contemporary instead of Neo Classical.

This is where the Palmer's are buried. They were the unofficial Ambassador's for the World's Fair VIP guests. Bertha also helped found Sarasota, FL, and the FL Citrus Industry. They have one of the most beautiful spots in the Cemetery, on a small hill (that Bertha had built), over a lake, with a weeping willow. It was beautiful.

I think the red's are my favorite!

Had an Italian sandwich after all that walking and getting soaked. The above picture is demonstrating how you are supposed to eat the sandwich :)
Halloween Night on State Street, one of our favorite streets - everyone was decorated so nice for Halloween, I'm looking forward to the Christmas lights!
